Bill Moseley attached to KILLER GREEN

SAN FRANCISCO (PRWEB) July 29,2009 – Ambergris Films LLC is excited to announce that actor Bill Moseley has signed on to play a role in the upcoming noir thriller KILLER GREEN.  Bill’s work in darkly comic films such as TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE 2 and ARMY OF DARKNESS is a great complement to the surreal, fringe character driven black humor of KILLER GREEN.

Bill Moseley got his first film role in Alan Rudolph’s Endangered Species as a cab driver.  His more recent body of work includes DEAD AIR(2009), REPO: THE GENETIC OPERA(2008), HALLOWEEN(2007), DEVIL’S REJECTS(2005) and many other films. He is a graduate of Yale University and has two daughters. He lives in Los Angeles, CA.

This is PART II of the interview with director Stephen David Brooks who is attached to direct David Niall Wilson’s “Killer Green.” The first part of this interview is located at David Niall Wilson’s Website.

DIRECTING

DNW: You’ve worn a lot of hats in the film industry, but you’ve chosen to pursue directing. What is it about this particular aspect of film that draws you?

SDB: I got the directing bug when I first saw a re-release of 2001: A Space Odyssey. That was the first time I recognized and experienced a director’s vision. I related to it because that’s how I see things. I see the world through my own skewed viewpoint. Directing is a natural outcome of that.

DNW: Your debut feature, Heads N TailZ, has gotten some rave reviews. How do you take in the reactions of others? Is the sensation of accomplishment different than when you worked with visual effects, or were writing?

SDB: There have been people who loved the film and those who absolutely hated it. HEADS N TAILZ was never intended to be a mainstream movie. It deliberately presses all sorts of sensitive buttons in the audience. I just love the fact that no matter if a person loved it or hated it they still wanted to talk about it. That is what made the effort worthwhile. Visual Effects was more of a detached sense of accomplishment. Ideally when people say they loved the effects that means the movie didn’t hold their interest. The effects should be invisible.

DNW: Obviously, no matter how good the script and actors are, without the chemistry that a good director brings to a project, it’s doomed. Can you talk some about the process by which you measure and blend your talent, story, and visuals to align them with your vision of the film? Or maybe just a scene? Is there a secret, or is it always different?

SDB: Chemistry is a result, so I don’t think in those terms. If the actors find the moments that feel real, and those moments are captured on film and cut together with other real moments then the chemistry will be there. The chemistry on film isn’t the same thing as real life chemistry. I have lots of secret ways of getting the real moments, but I’m not telling…At least not in writing.

DNW: Who are some of the directors you admire, and why? Do you have obvious influences?

SDB: Stanley Kubrick, Danny Boyle, David Lean, Mike Nichols, John Woo, Sam Peckinpah, Guy Ritchie, Mike Leigh. (I know I’m forgetting a lot of great directors) I admire them all for different reasons but they all make films that are uniquely theirs. There’s no confusing a moment from a Kubrick film with a moment from SNATCH, THE KILLER, TRAINSPOTTING or NAKED.

DNW: Killer Green sort of crosses genre and reality borders…what are the special challenges you see, if any, in directing and casting a film like this. What are the aspects that excite you the most?

SDB: I see Killer Green as a crime story. A classic American road movie with some very clever obstacles and situations that taunt the lead characters. The key is modulating the tone so that the shocking gruesome violent moments are radically opposed to the more humorous moments. The humor has to come from the characters and the situations and not appear tacked on. The overall intersecting arcs of the mood and tone are going to be the greatest challenges. That relates to casting in a big way, but also to how the film is recreated in the editing room. I love the roller coaster ride that is Killer Green. That’s what excites me the most.

Stephen David Brooks attached to direct KILLER GREEN

SAN FRANCISCO (PRWEB) July 7,2009 – Ambergris Films LLC is excited to announce that Director/Screenwriter Stephen David Brooks has signed on to direct the upcoming noir thriller KILLER GREEN.  The blend of energetic vision and dark humor showcased in Stephen’s multi- award winning directorial debut HEADS N TAILZ is a good match to the surreal, fringe character driven black humor of KILLER GREEN.

Upon graduating from U.C.L.A. film school, Stephen began his career as a Visual Effects Supervisor under the tutelage of Academy Award winner John Dykstra. Stephen added the title of screenwriter to his resume when he adapted the Stephen King short story THE MANGLER(1995) for New Line Cinema. Stephen not only wrote the film but also directed the 2nd unit and supervised the film’s visual effects. After writing and directing 2nd unit on several movies Stephen decided it was time to move into the director’s chair. Stephen’s writing/directing debut, HEADS N TAILZ (2005) proved to be the vehicle that launched his directing career. HEADS N TAILZ won the Fusion Audience Award at the 2005 Dances With Films Festival in Los Angeles as well as the Jury Prize at The 2006 Festival du Film de Strasbourg before screening at numerous festivals around the world.

Ambergris Films is giving away two walk-on parts in our upcoming production KILLER GREEN! NO PURCHASE NECCESARY!

To win the two walk-on parts to the film (one male, one female) you can do one of two things.

You can submit your personally crafted promotional photo for the movie.  If you have Killer Green shirts, please feel free to sport them – they make great props.   Be creative.  The first two scenes of the film are still available for inspiration at David Niall Wilson’s website.  The movie involves bio-diesel, big rigs, a classic Thunderbird (1966) – an Oldsmobile Toronado – a diner, an very rural gas station, a morgue, a desert and Peyote Slims, a bar & Grill on a remote highway.  Use your imagination!

The second way is to use that same information in a bit more high-tech fashion and create a fan trailer for the movie.  Act out a scene.  Make up a scene or a bunch of bits of scenes.  Put together your best trailer for the movie, upload it to YouTube, and we’ll embed it, along with the submitted photos, on the Killer Green web page (live soon)

Along with the walk-on parts, there will be two copies of the original web version of the screenplay, signed by David Niall Wilson.

There will be one copy of David Niall Wilson’s novel “Ancient Eyes,” a fifty dollar, out of print novel that is signed and limited and has the advantage of being…>GREEN< on the cover.

A copy of David Niall Wilson’s “The Not Quite Right Reverend Cletus J. Diggs & The Accepted Habits of Nature” – a forty-five dollar limited edition – also out of print.

And finally, one winner will get the opportunity to be a character in either an upcoming novel, or an upcoming screenplay by David Niall Wilson.  They will get to help create the character, and then I’ll write him, or her, in.

“Smokey & The Bandit Meets Natural Born Killers” In KILLER GREEN

SAN FRANCISCO (PRWeb) June 12, 2009 – Ambergris Films LLC today announces the optioning of a screenplay that has its roots in the popular online social network Twitter. KILLER GREEN is a horror film that mixes cultural icons such as diners and serial killers with news ripped from the headlines such as biodiesel cars and the unscrupulous practices of outlaw doctors.

In February of 2009, a group of users on the social network Twitter had an almost joking conversation about a movie based on a bio-fuel and a killing spree. The project was dubbed “KILLER GREEN” and author David Niall Wilson started typing a script. Since the idea was born on Twitter, Wilson typed the script in scenes and promoted each scene with his account. Each scene was published on his website under a Creative Commons license and broadcast to the Twitter Community. The following grew. After the completion of the screenplay, Wilson signed an option with Ambergris Films LLC. Nearly every part of the deal was transacted via Twitter, save for the signing of contracts. Pre-production started on the project in June, and many images from our production designer Jeff Ensslen are available on the KILLER GREEN website, http://www.killergreenfilm.com.

Many notable Twitter users donated their names to the screenplay, including Internet marketing gurus Chris Brogan and Greg Verdino. There are links to their Twitter profiles on the KILLER GREEN website.

David Niall Wilson has been writing and publishing horror, dark fantasy, and science fiction since the mid-eighties.
